💸 Why should you get punished for not being an expert in finance? You don’t get punished for lack of expertise in music or art or software or medicine. But not knowing about finance carries huge penalties. How? By paying extra fees in your 401k/IRA accounts. By making bad investments. By taking on too much or too little debt. Americans lose around $350 billion a year because of this. 🇺🇲

💰 Over the last 20 years, I have spent thousands of hours learning about budgeting, saving, investing, index funds, debt, risk, real estate, and much more. Moreover, it requires several hours of reading and research every week to keep these learnings updated. Not to mention creating many spreadsheets with financial and statistical models for investments, refinancing, cash flow etc. I also went to business school to grow and learn in this space.

🕵️‍♀️ Accumulating all this knowledge while working full time and raising a family takes a lot of effort. I have been able to do this only because I have a deep interest in business, finance and economics. I spend around 10-15 hours a week reading & learning about these topics because it is fun and exciting for me. 🧠

🕺 💃 But we all have diverse interests and passions and humankind is better off because of it. Musicians make beautiful music, engineers build robust systems, artists make wonderful art, doctors cure the sick, plumbers make our homes livable, and so on, because each one of us loves doing something specific and spend our lifetime perfecting that skill.

🛟 There’s one catch. If you don’t know plumbing, you can still get it all taken care of by spending a reasonable amount. Similarly, going to a concert gets your music fix. Or buying a cake gets your baking fix. None of these things would likely break your bank.

🙊 Except when it comes to finance: not managing your money optimally can make a difference worth hundreds of thousands of dollars over your lifetime. It can make a difference between retiring at 55 versus working till 75.

🤯 That is, an average person gets punished for not knowing finance much more severely than not knowing how to make music or plumbing. This happens because finance is always a part of entire adult life where bad decisions compound over time.

✅ This is why we are building Xillion to help professionals like yourself make best financial decisions without the need to spend too much time on it. Less than 10 minutes of time investment per week is all you need to achieve your financial goals with Xillion.
